Doctors talk about vegetable juice to lower blood pressure

High blood pressure is an added strain on the heart, brain, and kidneys. If left untreated, hypertension can eventually lead to heart disease, stroke and dementia.

To bring blood pressure in order, doctors advise adding more potassium-rich foods to the diet, this substance helps to remove sodium and relaxes blood vessels. A vegetable rich in potassium is the carrot, which contains 320 mg of potassium per 100 g. Studies have shown that eating carrots can lower blood pressure, and one study has also shown that drinking carrots in the form of juice is beneficial in reducing the risk of heart disease. .

Scientific works have appeared on the pages of Nutrition magazine. A group of 17 participants drank around half a liter of carrot juice a day for three months, reports the Daily Express.

The results showed that carrot juice reduced systolic blood pressure but had no effect on diastolic blood pressure. The drink also increased the overall antioxidant capacity of blood plasma. The scientists concluded that carrot juice can protect the cardiovascular system by “increasing overall antioxidant status and reducing lipid peroxidation.”
